About Cranford NJ

Located in Union County, Cranford NJ covers 4.8 square miles and has a population of more than 24,000 residents.
New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Cranford as its 34th best place to live in its 2010 rankings of the "Best Places To Live".

James E. Warner (1866-1933) is the namesake of the James E. Warner Plaza at the Cranford Train Station. Former Sheriff of Union County. Appalled by the growing pollution of the Rahway given the pristine waters of his youth, Sheriff Warner advocated for the preservation of the Rahway River and Rahway River Parkway parkland. One of Sheriff Warner's successful targets in fighting Rahway River pollution was his battle against the discharge of paper makers; one such site is now the famed regional theater known as the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. Cranford was once considered the "Venice of New Jersey."

Much of Cranford's Charm comes from the close knit community, and the various events that bring the town together. Cranford hosts it all, classic car shows, seasonal street fairs, to holiday parades, and the 4th of July Firecracker 5k. In the fall there are events like "Paint The Town" where artists from all over the state come to paint Cranford, or the scare crow town wide display.

If you enjoy the outdoors Cranford has plenty of parks for you to fish, ride bikes, play sports ,and bring the children out from the video games and into nature. There are more than 15 local parks spanning the town and 2 major county parks Lenape Park, and Nomahegan Park that span more than 450 acres.
